About the artistUkrainian born artist Irina Fleming has been an artist her entire life. Her first job after completing school was translating engineering designs into factory blueprints for the manufacturing of jet aircraft. following this employment, she taught art at various schools in Eastern Europe. After leaving teaching, she went to the University of Moscow to study art and graduated with a Master's Degree in Art History. Following her studies in Moscow, she took a job restoring icons for churches throughout the Ukraine. After completing several restoration projects, she returned to teaching at the University level. She completed five years of teaching at Kiev University before immigrating to America. She was not allowed to leave the Ukraine with her work, so she donated them to the University of Moscow. Irina's classic style of meticulous brushwork in her oil paintings is an extension of her days restoring icons. After arriving in America in 1999, she toured galleries in Santa Fe, Taos, Miami, Boston, New York, and Vermont. She has shown her work at the Southern Vermont Arts Center (1999-2000) and the Saratoga Arts Center (summer 2000). Irina decided to open her own gallery in June 20002 at 21 Bay Street in Glens Falls. Irina is the owner-artist of the Patriot's Daughter Art Gallery in Glens Falls. Historical Society for the Preservation of the Underground
