Railroad was chartered by the New York State Board of Regents on October 5, 2001. The charter incorporated the associates and their successors as an education corporation, under the corporate name of Historical Society for the Preservation of the Underground Railroad. We received our 501(c)(3) status
from the IRS late in 2002. The purposes for the corporation are: Membership and DuesAnnual dues for individual active members shall be Thirty Dollars
