How do I join?  How do I start a new SHIP club?

Your club can be what you want.  Club rules, club activities, and student leadership at each school  can be completely different from other schools, completely the same as other schools, or anything in between. Individual clubs organize themselves in ways that are comfortable for the culture of the local school.  Every club begins with an adult advisor, called a SHIP sponsor, and students who are interested in New York State.  Each club decides what projects to work on and what field trips they want to take during the year.

Directions for the SHIP Convention

To form a new club in 2004 and attend the 2004 convention in Niagara Falls:

1) Have your students register a new SHIP Club. The cost is $5 for a new club and you can print the web registration form to register.  The deadline has passed only if your students wanted to vote in the state election for student government at the convention.  (Register early next year!)

2) Have the club sponsor (or other adult chaperone) register rooms at the hotel. Holiday Inn Select in Niagara Falls is charging $88 per room.  Make your own travel and touring plans.

3) Submit the students' names and their chaperones' names to SHIP at our Cato, NY address with a payment for the convention registration fee of $20 per person by April 1, 2004. We will mail you a convention packet.

4) Email SHIP@nyshistory.com if you have questions.
